Hand Footwear has been in business in Carrickmacross since 1908 and despite being burned out during the War of Independence in 1922 it has continued to this day. Patrick Hand (Jim Hand’s father – no relation to the original owners) bought the shop and business in 1954; he then developed the business over the years by extending and upgrading the premises with his son Jim joining in 1983. Since Jim took over the family business he has expanded the range of brands offered, opened a second store in Monaghan town in 2005 and has gone online by launching www.shoeheaven.ie in 2012.
When the COVID pandemic reared its ugly head, we were hit hard by intermittent closures as mandated by the government – our website really came into its own at this time and we upgraded it to have more functionality and a better overall look. Since fully reopening in May 2021 (with hopefully no more closures needed) we have strived to offer the same great level of service to our lovely loyal customers and we are as busy as ever with our on-going summer sale and Back To School in full swing!
